Since Whistler mountain is closed we will be opening up the street course in the Creekside skatepark and pull out a bunch of obstacles from storage into the outside area of the park.Come by for a skate session and help move the obstacles out and do a little cleanup.Since the parkade is closed for the season you will need to access the park through the main stairwell and will no longer be able to drive vehicles right into the park.Anyone interested in building or finishing some of the Quarterpipes send an email to info@whistlerskate.org to schedule a time and a crew to get them done.
Art show to raise money for skateboard association
Blindmute Productions’ Let’s Talk About Feelings art show in Function Junction Saturday, April 19 is also a fundraiser for the Whistler Skateboard Association.
Part of the show is the inaugural Ipath shoe silent auction, with shoes painted by local artists. Awards will also be given to the top-three artists.
World Cup snowboarder Crispin Lipscomb, who is sponsored by Ipath, helped to put the auction together.
“It’s an idea I had a few years ago, for artists to use shoes as their canvas and have a bit of a competition, and it’s finally happening,” he said. “It will be cool to see what the artists come with, and every pair will be for sale to raise money for the skateboard association.”
The art show takes place in Function Junction at Mike’s Garage/Podium Auto Detailing, and tickets are $10 in advance at Evolution Bikes and Boards or by calling Randy at 604-938-3591.
The evening will feature DJ R3, guest DJs, and Shawn Rose playing guitar.
More than 20 artists will be showing off their work at the exhibit, which is the fourth in a series put on by Blindmute Productions.

Popdeck is essentially a skateboard design competition. Started out as a passion between our love for design/art and skateboarding. We have always collected cool decks as art after we skated them up, and this was just the natural progression….

On Sat. March 22nd we had a bobcat and a bunch of skaters remove snow from the Whistler Skatepark.
We started removing snow at 10am and finished around 5pm. Capilano Highway Services were so kind to let their employee Mark Johnson use the bobcat to remove snow from the park.
Thanks goes out to Mark and Capilano Highway Services for their support. The park may need a little more shoveling and a water drainage system but it is skate-able and should be fully dry with the help of some sun and rain.
We didn’t get into the bowl removing any snow but the street course is a good start for March considering we are still getting some good pow days on the hill.
Local skater Mikey Klinkhamer B-day is tomorrow and he wants everyone to come out to the outdoor park and help remove some snow so we can open the park shortly. Come out for a good time and dig up the snow.
The Mountain repaired the main light balace/light problem. For now we actually only got 2 bulbs out of the main 4 lights working. I am still working on getting the last 2 lights working but at least for now there is plenty of light to skate comfortably.
We have built some quarter pipes and have yet to finish them up because we do not have colping and flat metal for where the ramps meet the ground. The metal order should be in within a week or so and I will be looking for volunteers to finish up the job.

There were some small new graffiti pieces that went up in the last week so Dave took a few minutes and painted over them. The ramp has also seen some abuse with water from all the rain and snow dripping through the ceiling so we put a few screws in where the plies were bulging.
The main light under the bowl is out, we have tried replacing the bulbs but it seems to be an issue with the balace or another factor such as a fuse. I have put in a request to the mountain to have it fixed and hopefully will have it back on shortly.
